We started 2018 moving south to Yuma, Arizona. First stop was in Mesquite, Nevada where we celebrated the New Year.

Sitting on the border of Arizona, Mesquite was a little bit out of our way, but there were some homes we were interested in seeing, so we headed over and spent the weekend here.

Desert Skies RV Resort

We stayed just across the border in Littlefield, Arizona at the Desert Skies RV Resort.

This was a nice resort with great mountain views. The rows were tiered so it appeared everyone had some sort view. They had all the amenities: pool, exercise room, billiards, pickle ball and miniature golf.

Their daily activity calendar was full, but there weren’t any organized activities for New Year’s Eve. The resort was directing people to nearby casinos. We stayed in and enjoyed a quiet evening.

Overall, it was a very nice place to stay for the few days we were there.

Laughlin KOA / Avi Casino Resort

Laughlin was nearly the exact midpoint between Mesquite and Yuma, Arizona – our destination for January. We stopped at the Laughlin KOA which is part of the Avi Casino Resort. It was fine for an overnight stay. The spaces were all sand with no grass to be found, but it worked.

The desert winds were raging when we got in, but things calmed down by evening.

Since it was a short overnight stay, we didn’t have a chance to take advantage of the amenities, including the pool and beach, but it certainly looked nice.

Westwind Golf & RV Resort

We made it to Yuma, and we’re all settled in for the month. Lots of activities on the calendar, including concerts every Saturday. Last night’s featured music from Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Fats Domino and more. An Eagles tribute band is on the docket for next Saturday.

The temperatures are in the upper 70s now, and it’s very pleasant here. We’re looking forward to exploring the area and sightseeing.

For now, it’s off to church.

Stay tuned for more updates from the road.
